We're all settled in Terlingua, Texas, just outside Big Bend National Park. The scenery on the drive here was spectacular, and quite different than East Texas. Just as samples:

About an hour later, we approached another mysterious hill near Bakersfield, Texas that first looked like a pyramid from the east side --
-- then looked like a super-eroded sphinx from the south side:
We saw our first Texas dust devils. Here's one:
