Finger Lakes - Keuka Lake

Hi Blog! On Friday, October 10, 2014, we packed up Great White with everything we could think of and left our 5th wheel near Canandaigua and headed south to Keuka Lake. It was finally BIRTHDAY WEEKEND! No, not our birthdays, but the birthdays of our grandson, William (a/k/a HaoHao, Little William and Sir William, who was turning 3 on Oct. 12) and our son, Matt (a/k/a BaBa or Daddy, who was turning 30 on Oct. 18). Here is Kathy piling in bags full of stuff. This photo doesn't include the bags from the grocery store or the wine store.

With Matt, Weina and William in Toronto, Ontario and Katie in New Haven, Connecticut, we picked the Finger Lakes Region of New York as a convenient place to meet.  Since our RV wouldn't fit everyone, we searched high and low for just the right rental place. It needed to be able to fit all of us AND be pet friendly, since both Matt and Katie have dogs. As for our cats, they got to spend a quiet weekend home alone in the RV. They don't like getting barked at all day. Katie found the right one, and our destination was the Sails and Sunsets Cottage on the shores of Keuka Lake.

Here is the view from our deck.

Katie's puppy, Maggie, just loved the rental house.  There was a yard to run around in and a beach to play ball on. The green thing you see in the picture is the top of the sandbox, which Little William discovered right away.

Soon after arriving, Sir William began constructing his very own castle with the help of Aunt Katie (a/k/a GuGu, which is Mandarin for father's sister).

On Saturday morning, William discovered how much fun it was to throw rocks out into the lake. Here NaiNai (a/k/a Kathy) is walking William back to the beach to pick up more rocks.

(We've been home for two days now and we are still finding rocks in various pockets.)

While the adults had fun playing Chuckluck, William was busy with Rummicub and Boggle. Here is Sir William instructing YeYe (a/k/a David) on the proper placement of the tiles.

In the photo below, Katie and William are sharing some Cheerios.  Maggie is just hoping to score any that happen to fall on the floor.  William didn't think that was fair, so he just put the cup up to her mouth and let her have as many as she wanted.  He's such a generous little guy. Apparently dog slobber goes well with Cheerios.

Nothing says October quite like carving pumpkins. We picked up six bad boys at a local farmers market. Let the creativity begin.

YeYe made quick work of his pumpkin, while NaiNai was still trying to get her's to spill its guts:

GuGu was helping HaoHao design the perfect face. With kid-friendly carver in hand, HaoHao begins to create his masterpiece:

The pumpkin seeds are flying:

In this photo below, Weina looks way too happy stabbing her pumpkin in the eye.  Better watch out, Matt.  Well, on second thought, Matt looks pretty skilled with the knife himself.

Here is the Every Happy Family - NaiNai, YeYe, GuGu, HaoHao, MaMa and BaBa:

The sun is setting.  Time to turn on the pumpkin lights:

It was foggy when we awoke Sunday morning.

You can barely see the mountain across the lake in this series of photos:

Here comes the sun!

We had a couple adventures this weekend, but we will put them in separate blogs.  Stay tuned.
