Hanging Out At Home

Dear Reader,

By now you must be wondering what we do around the rig on those (rare!) days we aren't hiking, biking, paddling, touring, eating, drinking, museuming or visiting.  Well, those days are rare, we admit, and usually they're forced on us by bad weather or mandatory chores or errands.  However, occasionally, we just crap out for a day.  Just because.

Today was one of those days.

So here is what we did:

First, after our shower we made coffee and took our daily coffee walk.  Sometimes we walk around the campground.  Sometimes we walk around the surrounding neighborhood.  Sometimes we walk to a nearby convenience store for another cup of coffee.  This morning's walk included all three.  Here's a photo of the little adobe neighborhood near our campground.  It's a new development with a central plaza or park:

After we got back and had some breakfast, Baxter got his morning outing.  Here's a photo Kathy surreptitiously took of David while he was cat-sitting Baxter:

Kathy didn't quite get around to finishing yesterday's blog while we were relaxing last night, so she had to finish it this morning.  Here she is being inspired by her muse.  No that's not her muse in the yellow and red shirt.  That's David, probably gossiping on Facebook or something:

By the time Kathy finished the blog, the weather was threatening rain, it was below 60F outside and the wind was blowing gustily, so we decided not to go out for the hike we planned, as it would have required a 30-mile drive and we didn't know whether we would get rained out.  Truth be told, we both probably just wanted a day to relax.  So Kathy decided to gossip on Facebook or something, and David threw together an easy crockpot dinner of Andouille sausage, green chile peppers and such, under Kathy's watchful eye and direction.  Here's Kathy inspecting the final product:

Whew!  That was hard work.  What else are we going to do?  Naps were a possibility we discussed, but David decided to read.  We have Kindles, and Risa and Laird were thoughtful enough to buy us "book covers" to hold our Kindles.  Now we feel like we're reading real books!

The weather today was very changeable.  By about 5:00 it had cleared up, but was cooler yet and very windy.  We took another short walk around the campground.  Here's a view from our campground of the nearby mountains, showing a little more snow on the peaks than there had been this morning:

What else did we do today?  Oh yes.  We also caught up with the latest episode of "Game of Thrones." (Thanks Jen!)  Sorry, no spoilers here.

It's about 6:00 p.m. and maybe we'll have happy hour and some dinner and then perhaps we'll take advantage of the strong internet at this campground and stream a recent-run movie.

So there you have it.  Hanging around home, raised to the level of an art form!
