Hi Blog! As you know, we have been staying just of West of Toronto in order to help Matt, Weina and William find an apartment and get settled in their new home. A few days a week, we travel into downtown Toronto. Our day starts with a drive to the Oakville Train Station. We then catch the GO Train into Union Station. It is a short walk over to their hotel where we meet William and begin our adventure. No stroller for this big guy. Who is ready for a 12 block walk?
Our first stop is usually Grange Park where William has discovered a large sandbox. He also discovered the Marshall's Department Store where they sell buckets and shovels. Here is our grandson showing off his latest creation.
After looking at over 13 apartments, Matt and Weina finally decided on a waterfront building. On Saturday, May 31, we all took a walk over to explore the new neighborhood. We walked down Blue Jay Way and passed the baseball stadium. Next to the railroad tracks is a small park and monument to the Chinese railroad workers.
There are several pocket parks along Lakeshore Boulevard. This park has water sprinklers to help keep the kiddies cool in the summer.
Our final destination was the Lion Park. We still have not figured out why they call it that.
The Lion Park is right on the waterfront. While William played in the sand, we watched sailboats, canoes and ferries travel back and forth to Toronto Island.
Here Kathy and Weina soak up a little sun in a small lounge chair.
We weren't the only ones enjoying the park. Here an oriole is taking a bath in the water fountain.
Kathy tried to follow William into the tunnel, but she got stuck and William had to push her back out again. All in the line of duty.
After spending a fun-filled afternoon playing in the park, it was time to walk back into center city and get some dinner. Time for a quick family photo on the pedestrian bridge with Toronto in the background.
We are heading to Philadelphia this weekend for a family wedding. We'll be back in a few days and will continue our Adventures in Babysitting!
