Around the Campground in Campbellville, Ontario

In most of the campgrounds where we stay, we have a few days in which we simply hang out.  We also have coffee walks around our campgrounds in the morning, and Kathy (or Dave sometimes) takes Baxter for walks.  Then, many afternoons, we also have happy hours, sitting at our campsite, soaking up the sun and perhaps lingering long enough to enjoy the sunset.  These quiet adventures rarely make it onto the blog, but they're adventures nonetheless.

For example, sometimes we find funky campground signs to mark our stay:

Sometimes the campground has unique little areas for us to lounge:

But each campground has its own, unique features.  We found a few unique things here at our campground in Campbellville, outside Toronto, in Ontario Canada.

For example, for those who do not have cell service (and, truthfully, the cell service is spotty and expensive), there's always a pay phone to do it the old fashioned way:

This campground has a great little campers' kitchen, for use by anyone who doesn't have a full kitchen in their tent or RV, or who simply want a change of pace:

The campers' kitchen has been painted to resemble a cozy little cabin kitchen, complete with fireplace and leg of lamb or pork roasting by the fire:

There are natural areas near the campground, including acres of woods and a real swamp:

Wildlife abounds, including a multitude of black-tailed squirrels --

-- and millions of spry little chipmunks.  Baxter has gotten very excited about the chipmunks.  This morning, as we walked him, he stalked a little chipmunk under a nearby shed --

-- and CAUGHT him!  He had the little feller by the scruff of the neck and was proudly marching the chipper off to our RV when Kathy intervened and made Baxter drop his little buddy.  The chipmunk, apparently none the worse for wear, nevertheless ran right back into danger by darting UNDER Baxter instead of away from him.  So it took a strong second effort by Kathy to truly return the little guy to freedom.3741

Baxter didn't care.  The mighty hunter had bagged his prize.  Catch-and-release is okay because Baxter still has the bragging rights!
