When the boys realized they'd awakened late in Fort Nelson, they decided to set an alarm, and as soon as we pulled into camp, they sprang from the bed and ran out to see where we are staying.
This campground is set right along the Sikanni River. The community is called Sikanni Chief. Never mind the misspelling on the rock sign below. The boys understood what it meant.
The boys begged to go see the river, so we took them down. They gazed off across the water, looking for trout or Dolly Varden. No luck. The river is running high and a bit muddy after rain the last couple of days. But, oh boy, did we catch some mosquitoes on our short walk.
A tall wooden statue of an eagle sits by the river, titled, appropriately, "Sikanni River." The boys wanted an eagle photo. Pay no attention to the woman behind the sign.
