July 3rd Joy Ride

Hi-Ho, Blog!

On July 3rd, we decided to ride our bikes to North Woodstock - home of the North Woodstock Inn and Brewery!  It was a straight shot north on Route 3 from our campground for 11 miles. Since we're down in the Pemi River Valley, the hills weren't bad. It's about the same distance we used to ride when we rode into work.  We also got lots of great views of the mountains.  Some folks were already decorated for the 4th of July - such as this patriotic roof.  In New Hampshire, it's "Live Free or Die."

Here is the turnaround spot.  We got in just before the lunch rush.  They make a really good brown ale. We also tried the oatmeal stout and raspberry wheat.  Don't get excited, Tom, the raspberry wasn't as good as the Raspberry Mead Ale that General Lafayette Brewery made.  However, we will keep searching.  We still have another 41 states to sample!

Now, it was time to turn around and ride 11 miles the other way. We did stop at this really cool cemetery.  The mausoleums were done like little hobbit houses.

We also got to watch the Hobo Express go buy. It is a fun little tourist train that takes you up and down the Pemi Valley.  Kathy waved at the engineer and he blew the whistle for her.

As you can see, our commute was along a very narrow country road, but traffic was pretty light. Since it was more downhill on the way back, we returned in under an hour.

We got home just in time to go back out again and return the rental car and pick up the truck. We are still recovering from sticker shock. We had the 64,000 miles servicing done. We should be good to go for another 32,000 miles until the next "mondo" maintenance needs to be done.  So, we can go back and forth across the country 10 times!

Chat at you later!
