Often when we stay at campgrounds, we accumulate miscellaneous photos. Here are a few that we think are representative of this pretty place.
A selfie looking downstream along the Sturgeon River:
A panoramic view of the campground marina --
-- with a view of a little houseboat moored there:
Several families of ducks live in the marina and on the river nearby. Here is one group, catching a nap:
They aren't the only wild animals stalking the campground. Baxter loves his campground walks. He was particularly excited about this campground, because we are camped right next to a long line of red pine and tamaracks, with something beginning to resemble a hedgerow growing beneath. Bugs and birds, mice and chipmunks and who-knows-what-else kept Baxter entertained endlessly.
The campground celebrates Christmas in July next weekend. Unfortunately, we'll miss it, but Kathy couldn't resist doing a little pre-gaming with some of the other campers:
We might have spent more time exploring this area than we've had. For example, we didn't even get a chance to visit any Nipissing First Nations attractions, or (due to timing) enjoy the West Nipissing Fiddle Festival, or even to take hikes on the Duchesnay Falls Nature Trails, east of here. Ah, but that's only a reason to visit this area again, perhaps on a road trip east to Canadian Maritimes!
