So, what should we do today? It was much the same yesterday, and we spent part of the day watching the Olympics. The rest of the day, Kathy pulled out her Martin Backpack Guitar (a gift from her good friend Deb) and played with it a bit. After a while, David joined her with his Hohner Chromatic Harmonica.
Tuning a guitar is always a chore, but especially difficult for beginners. In addition, Kathy didn't have any guitar picks. We looked around and found that LarryLand Music Store is located only a mile away, just across the Colorado River in historic downtown Bastrop. We discovered the website for the Bastrop Brewhouse and, thinking we were going to have a wonderful lunch over a local microbrew, we headed out on a chilly, damp walk over an old railroad bridge into Bastrop.
Our first stop was LarryLands, where Larry himself helped Kathy pick out what she needed:
Toting away her acquisitions, we walked next door to the brewhouse --
-- only to find that it has permanently closed (!?)
Boo hoo. Now we had to go find a mundane lunch somewhere nearby. It didn't take us long to find Maxine's Cafe, where some warm food and a nice cold genuine Texas Shiner Bock perked us right up:
After that hearty lunch, we trekked home through the now-more-heavily-rainy weather and warmed ourselves up with some toasty Chinese tea.
